Keeping Healthy in the Office

It can be difficult to take care of our bodies if we are sitting in chairs or car seats all day. Our bodies are made to be active and to be outside, at least once in a while.

There are all kinds of health and safety procedures which you are meant to do at work to protect your body and especially your back, but we forget them so easily. For those who use orthotics this is doubly important because your body already needs extra support or correction.

There are the basic safety tips like if you are short then you must use a foot rest, because just letting your feet hang puts extra stress on your lower back. Another is that you must sit upright with your forearms leaning on the desk. This is really to make sure that you have the right posture when sitting in a chair for eight hours.

The other side of sitting in a chair in an office all day is the amount of coffee you are likely to drink. While a bit of coffee can be healthy, anything more than four cups a day is excessive. It is good to keep hydrated, but why not drink herbal tea like green tea or even water.

We have to be in the office, but that doesn't mean our bodies have to suffer. Keep active and keep hydrated.
